Nestled between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountain ranges and surrounded by over 58,000 acres of National Forest, we have anything your adventurous heart desires. The magnitude and beauty of the Natural Bridge, a National Historic Landmark and One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, compels many visitors to come to the area. Surveyed by a young George Washington and once owned by Thomas Jefferson, the Bridge provides a unique, historic, picturesque and natural experience. Lexington, just 8 miles north of the campground, has recently netted a big share of tourist interest as one of the best small towns in America. With its rich historical background and an entire downtown that is listed on the State and National register of Historic Places, Lexington has much to offer visitors year-round.
